Happy Fall!!

To celebrate the first day of Fall we made one of our favorite pumpkin recipes this morning - Pumpkin Pancakes with Cinnamon Brown Butter Syrup!

Here is the recipe can freeze extras or half the ingredients!

Whisk together:
5 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
8 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. each cinnamon, ground ginger and salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

Stir together then mix with dry ingredients:
4 cups milk
1 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
6 tbsp. melted butter
4 eggs

1/4 batter for each pancake.

Serve with whipped cream or Cinnamon Brown Butter Syrup ( or both!).

Cinnamon Brown Butter Syrup
1 cup butter- melt butter and let simmer for about 8 minutes till it browns
mix and then add to butter:
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
can also add toasted and chopped pecans.

MOPS Open House this Friday- Sept. 16th

MOPS – Begins September 16^th

A typical morning might look something like this:

9:15-9:30 Drop kiddos off at their MOPPETS class & Mom Check-in
9:30-10:15 Refreshments (aka yummy breakfast all to yourself!)
10-10:15 Announcements
10:15-10:45 Speaker (relevant to mothering/being a woman/ being a wife)
10:45-11:00 Small Group Discussion (uninterrupted conversation)
11:00-11:30 Craft/Activity Time (a time dedicated so you can complete a task)

You need to register to be a part of this group. The MOPS International dues of $23.95 is paid annually when your membership application is received (must be paid at or before the first meeting in September). We will register you online to receive your MOPS International member benefits. GHCC MOPS dues of $15.00 is paid per semester (must be paid at first meeting in September and first meeting in January) or all at once in September. This covers your registration materials, childcare, MOPPETS activities for your children, your craft fees and more. As a result, no refunds will be given after the first attended meeting.

Our meetings are every 1st and 3rd Friday from 9:30-11:30 am September through May.

Summer play days

If you want to be a part of the summer play days send an email to mops@generationalhope.org and we will keep you updated. We will be meeting up over the summer on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month.

Our last Meeting for the 2010-2011 year is May 20th

Our theme for our last MOPS meeting is “Favorite Things”, be thinking about your favorite things in your daily life you use, such as a favorite nail polish, candy bar, coffee, lotion, kitchen gadget etc. and if you are able bring one to share and we will be raffling them off. We will also be unveiling the new theme for next year! If you haven’t come yet come get a taste of what MOPS is all about!

Spa-ahhh Day!

We had a nice and relaxing Spa Day on May 6th! For those of you who couldn't come we will definately be doing it again next year!

We will be doing facials, footbaths, Satin Hands with a Mary Kay consultant, painting nails, making bath salts and more!

This will be the last meeting for newcomers. MOPS registration closes March 31st for the 2010-2011 MOPS year.
